Of course, though without context for the example, it's hard to understand if it really is being used as a noun (which seems clearly offensive) or a verb, which doesn't immediately seem offensive to me, at least (like "We shipped a crippled version of the product as a trial").
Ah yes, that's true. I don't know if 'crippled' as an adjective applied to a non-person would cause people distress, I assume not (though I'd err on the side of caution).
Alas, that's the kind of thing that automated tools will inevitably make mistakes about. It's not doing NLP.
