I'm very curious to see how those data points are going to be used, especially the one about smashing the keyboard.
That sort of input is used for key generation entropy, so hopefully Randall is going to use it to break all my SSH and GPG keys. I can't wait to see what he does with them.
Generally the entropy is derived from the timing of the interrupts from the keypresses. The actual output of keys pressed isn't terribly useful.
Huh, I wouldn't have guessed that, but I suppose it makes sense- people usually follow patterns on keyboards.
Yeah, and the last couple bits of the microsecond timestamp on the interrupt that fired when the key pressed are going to be pretty darn random.
I guess those pattern get broken once someone uses a dvorak keymap (like I do) and the person analyzing the text doesn't know.
