Isn't it so that all continous functions can be approximated with sums of sine waves too?

I don't know, sine waves are pretty smart... I think it's only a matter of time before they take over the world.

And Not just sine waves. If combining using harmonics and different amplitudes is allowed, any base shape would suffice.
